150 young people + 3 Northern Ireland schools + One US partner school = One transatlantic learning journey of disovery and possibility.
Our inaugural Linen to Liberty programme brings young people together through the interconnected stories and a journey of self discovery through the lens of teenagers exploring Ulster's role in linen, migration to America, Ulster-Scots heritage, local relevance, liberty, citizenship and responsibility.
Through historical evidence, enquiry, discussion, creativity and pupil-led participation, students move from discovering the past to considering the ideas, values and responsibilities that matter in their own world and why our today links to our yesterday and why is is important for our tomorrow...
The journey culminates in our first Project Pioneer School Congress Showcase — an opportunity for pupils to present, perform, reflect and share what they have discovered.
We are enormously proud of the young people and teachers who helped bring this first chapter of Project Pioneer to life.

FINDING THEIR VOICE
...a journey of discovery
Project Pioneer explores history and heritage — but does not start there.
Young people are given the opportunity to choose for themselves. To take part in stories, gathering evidence, exploring people and guided learning before being encouraged to question, interpret, discuss and form ideas of their own.
The aim is not simply to remember the past, but to understand why it matters.
WHAT MATTERS?
History provides the vehicle.
Young people choose whether to get on board.
Pupils consider the ideas and values that matter to them, their families, their friends, their communities and societies — from liberty, equality and citizenship to voice, courage, belonging and responsibility.
The thinking belongs to them. We do not tell our young people what to think but show them HOW to think... how to evaluate, how to form judgement. How to determine if it matters... or not. And find the tools within to explore it.
